Background

Ongoing research into forest fires and oil palm development in Indonesia involves satellite monitoring of fire behavior in 75 villages in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. Villages were offered financial incentives in exchange for successfully avoiding fires during the 2018 dry season. For transparency with research partners, the chart below lists the fire detections that were used determine incentive payments.
