Biography
Andrés de Loera is an assistant professor in the oceans department in the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability and a center fellow of the Center on Food Security and the Environment. An applied environmental and natural resource economist, he studies how economic incentives and governance institutions shape the use of ocean resources, especially fisheries. He received a PhD in economics from Harvard University, during which time he was a National Marine Fisheries Service-SeaGrant fellow in marine resource economics and a doctoral student fellow of the Harvard Environmental Economics Program; and a B.A. in economics from Harvard College.
